APRIL 6TH 2025 – PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Chakri Memorial Day, observed annually on April 6th, commemorates the founding of the Chakri dynasty, which has ruled Thailand since 1782. This significant day honours King Rama I, who established the dynasty and moved the capital to Bangkok, creating the Grand Palace as its centerpiece. It also pays tribute to the contributions of subsequent monarchs in modernising and unifying Thailand. On this day, the current monarch, government officials, and citizens perform ceremonies to honour the Chakri kings, laying wreaths at Royal monuments. It should be remembered on this day, as with all religions and monarchy related public holidays, the purchase of alcohol is prohibited.
