PHUKET’S PARTY HIGH SEASON PEAKS WITH SONGKRAN

Hello all and welcome to the High Season!
By the time you’re reading this, I imagine it is in full effect. Food and beverage outlets maintain their bustling atmospheres, no matter what time of day. Beach Clubs bumping until the early hours of the morning. Standing at a crowded beach wondering where is the peace and quiet? Look no further, this issue of exotiqPhuket magazine will be here to serve as your guide during the hustle and bustle of the Phuket high season.

Few places will be having as much fun as Kata will be this high season. Located in the southwest quadrant of the island, Kata is unique amongst the list of blue riband beach towns in Phuket by virtue of the fact that it can boast, not one, but two beaches.
We take you on a tour of the town, where we stumble upon the amazing Baray Spa, with its oriental designed chambers and exquisite treatments. We also pay a visit to the Fira Beach Club, which would be more accurately named ‘Cliff Club’. It has all the attributes of a top beach club, except it’s not actually on a beach.

We drop in on the luxurious Kata Rocks Villa Resort, a trendy establishment which doesn’t do things by half. Take for example their KR Cat luxury dining cruises, definitely the classiest way to watch the setting sun over the Andaman.

This edition of exotiqPhuket has a distinct Italian flavour. We board the tallest ship in the Italian navy, the ITS Amerigo Vespucci, as it docks into Phuket harbour. We catch up with Luca Cini, the proprietor of an Italian Trattoria and Wine Bar in Cherngtalay, who has recently started to export his amazing food and wine with an outdoor catering operation to private villas and yachts on the island. We also book a table at Prego, the popular chain of Italian restaurants across Thailand that is now open in Phuket.
Jim Thompson, Thailand’s iconic lifestyle fashion brand is parading its latest garments for this high season. For him a fashionable beachwear collection, and for her a glamorous range of resort wear in collaboration with ASAVA.

We have to finish our high season rundown with a mention of Songkran. Yes, Thailand’s watery lunar new year festival takes place in mid April and we tell you how and where to participate in this hilarious community event.

Happy High season everyone.
