Kata in southwest Phuket – the only resort to have two beaches

Looking down from a private helicopter seat, Phuket completely unveils itself: emerald jungles spilling to sugar-sand crescents, jade lagoons in off-shore islands and the azure Andaman stitched with coral. Glide past the Big Buddha, over limestone karsts and secret coves of Phang Nga, sipping champagne as panoramic windows deliver sublime, cinematic vistas; for the high society it’s the only way to tour the island.

Ko Panyi – this village on stilts is a great day-trip, it even has its own floating football pitch

Layan Beach – with the tide out, allowing you to walk onto Kala Island

The Ka Rot Estuary – looking south into Phang Nga Bay

The Kandara Estate – one of the island’s most spectacular private properties

Wat Chalong – Phuket’s largest and most holy Buddhist temple

Green waters – Phang Nga’s mangrove coloured water lapping onto James Bond Island

A cove alone – blissful cruising off Krabi

All beaches in Phuket are public – but Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort enjoys exclusive access to Had Karon Noi

Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi – Hollywood film set for The Beach with Leonardo Di Caprio

Patong – Phuket’s largest resort town, and anchorage for visiting cruise liners

Luxury villas between Kamala and Kalim – The Millionaire’s Mile
