One of the most spectacular roads in Phuket, is the coastal road which links Nai Harn with Kata. It winds around the headlands of southwest Phuket, often reaching 300 metres above sea level; the westerly views are wonderful. The southerly section of this road, at the Nai Harn end, is largely undeveloped but as you head north, and get closer to Kata, you’ll notice some new developments off to your left, which are above Kata Noi, the town’s smaller beach.
Just before you start descending into Kata you’ll come across a sign which says, “Fira Beach Club”. This is very odd because you are still 200 metres plus above sea level. Intrigued as to how a beach club could exist this far above the beach, we had to stop and check it out.
Fira Beach Club in Kata Noi, indeed has no beach access, but what it does have, which others cannot claim in Phuket, is the most amazing views, totally due to its elevated location. Phuket has ‘beachfront beach clubs’, ‘floating beach clubs’, ‘waterpark beach clubs’ so why not a ‘cliff-hanging beach club’?
